Carlos Slim Helu defeats Bill Gates

defeats Bill Gates as the Richest Man in the World.


Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, must gives his chair as the richest man on the earth to the telecommunication taipan, Carlos Slim Helu. According to financial website of Mexico, Sentido Comun, that Mexico billionaire has succeed to multiply his money frm the best performance of his telecommunication company, America Movil.


Forbes Magazine in last April 2007 rank Slim as the second richest man. At that time, he defeats legendary investor from USA, Warren Buffett. Forbes predicts that the riches of Slim are around USD 53.1 billion (around IDR 477 trillion) and Gates has USD 56 billion (around IDR 504 trillion).But today, the richest of Slim is already over Gates. The very quick increase of the riches of that 67 years old man is because of the super fast increase of America Movil share value about 26.5 percent in this year.The difference between those two men is around 9 billion US Dollar (around IDR 81 trillion). Slim is richer than Gates. Slim is also dominate financial group INBURSA and industrial group Grupo Carso with his retail shop, coffee shop, and restaurant.


The fast increase of the riches of Slim is triggered by his action on taking Telefonos de Mexico (Telemex) in 1990. In 1997, he bought 3 percent of Apple Computer share just before Apple launch iMac with only USD 17. 12 months later, the price of Apple share is becoming USD 100 per share.Although he is a rich man, Slim is still plain. He does not want using his private jet plane. His clock is made from plastic.
